Drum kit tutor

4.5 hours at our Saturday Music Centre leading teaching 1:1 drum kit tuition. The candidate must have availability to teach on Saturdays during school term time.

 

Piano tutor

4.5 hours at our Saturday Music Centre leading teaching 1:1 piano tuition. The candidate must have availability to teach on Saturdays during school term time.

 

Ukulele tutor

To teach whole class groups in schools. Experience of whole class teaching desired, but not essential as training and support can be given in this role.

 

Violin tutor (maternity cover)

4.5 hours at our Saturday Music Centre leading a small folk group as well as 1:1 violin tuition. The candidate must have availability to teach on Saturdays during school term time.

 

Violin tutor

To teach whole class groups in schools. Experience of whole class teaching desired, but not essential as training and support can be given in this role.

 

Vocal tutor

4.5 hours at our Saturday Music Centre leading 2 choirs and 4 individual lessons and also to lead whole class singing and curriculum support in a primary school (2 hours per week).

 

Woodwind tutor

To teach group programme/whole class recorder in schools.

 

We’re looking for musicians/educators who are specialists in the above skills who are eager to utilise this knowledge in the education of young people in both school and community settings. These roles will involve delivering workshops/sessions as part of Lewisham Music’s school and community programme, including delivery of individual and group sessions often for children and young people facing challenging circumstances.

As well as offering instrument hire, instrumental and vocal lessons (for individuals, groups and whole classes), music theory classes, bands and ensembles and CPD and training for professionals, Lewisham Music is diversifying to include music production, songwriting, rap, cross-genre creative programmes and more. We also have received significant funding to deliver programmes focused on Equality Diversity and Inclusion, mental health, and supporting the talent of children from low-income households.

 

Our core work is with 5-18 year olds but we are work to expand our reach to include Early Years and adults.

Work status

30 weeks per year (term time only).

 

Pay

Teaching pay rate starts from £30.35 (inc. holiday pay) per hour depending on type of teaching and qualifications.

 

Contract type

Permanent – Employed PAYE.

 

Location

Work can be across the borough of Lewisham in schools and community settings, and occasionally further afield. Our new premises at The Fellowship & Star is on Randlesdown Road, SE6 3BT. Our Saturday Music Centre runs at Prendergast Vale School, Elmira Street, SE13 7BN.
