Lewisham Music vs Coronavirus

I am writing to update you on where we are organisationally as the country responds to the COVID-19 crisis.  Following government guidance, we have cancelled or postponed all out-of-school activities, projects and performances until further notice.  This includes all Lewisham Live events, Lewisham Schools String Orchestra, Lewisham Schools Concert Band, and Saturday Music Centre.  Those directly affected will already have been contacted with more details.

We have closed our office for at least another week and the office staff are working from home. Key phone lines have been diverted and we are all available using our mobile numbers and email addresses.  The emergency phone number during this time is 07525 671341.

We will continue to work in schools where that is possible and safe, but are also rapidly developing digital solutions which will enable us to keep offering services to schools and our out-of-school groups over the coming weeks and months.

Our absolute number one priority is to keep our staff, pupils and the community we serve safe.  However, as a small independent charity, this is also a big financial challenge.  We of course recognise the considerable financial pressure on many families, but if you do feel able to help you can donate to Lewisham Music by clicking below.

We have had many heart-warming messages of support from schools, staff, colleagues, parents and carers, so thank you all!  We will get through this and will continue to offer great music-making opportunities for the young people of Lewisham.

Please keep an eye on our social media platforms and newsletters for updates.  In the meantime if anyone has any concerns or queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

I wish you and yours all the best during these unprecedented times.

Regards,

Charly Richardson
