Turning of the Year

Turning of the Year is an annual series of singing concerts designed to give children and young people a unique opportunity to share in the excitement of making music.

Singers in Key Stages 1, 2 & 3 have the opportunity to perform in a professional environment with a large group of singers from other schools.

Over 1000 children and young people took part in our annual festival of singing from 3 to 6 December 2018 at Blackheath Halls, and the 12 December 2018 at the Southbank Centre. Sell out audiences were treated to a wide range of seasonal music from 30 school choirs, and made an amazing sound when they came together to sing as one massed choir under our Singing Leader Clare Caddick. Feedback from the audience was amazing, and we continue to be proud to celebrate the Turning of the Year with such energy!

Turning of the Year turns 25 this festive season and celebrates with four evenings of song performed by Lewisham schools in collaboration with Lewisham Music.

The series of concerts will take place from Monday 2 to Thursday 5 December 2019 at Blackheath Halls and will draw together choirs from schools across the borough to sing a selection of festive music in a massed singing performance which will also highlight individual school choirs.
